Competitive salary of £33,787 - £42,766 per annum (Grade 5)

Are you an experienced Carpentry & Joinery professional with a passion for inspiring the next generation of tradespeople? We are seeking a motivated and knowledgeable Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer to join our Construction department and play a key role in delivering high-quality education and training to learners across Further Education programmes.

As a Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and innovative teaching across a range of construction programmes. You will support students to achieve their full potential through effective teaching, assessment, mentoring, and learner support.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to curriculum development, programme leadership, and the continuous improvement of teaching and learning within a thriving Construction department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching and assessment across Carpentry & Joinery programmes.
  • Prepare learning materials, lesson plans, and assessment activities that support learner achievement.
  • Mark assignments and maintain accurate records of student progress and attainment.
  • Support curriculum development and contribute to the enhancement of teaching resources and subject areas.
  • Provide academic guidance, coaching, mentoring, and pastoral support to learners.
  • Contribute to quality assurance processes, course verification, and self-assessment activities.
  • Lead or support course teams to ensure effective curriculum delivery and programme management.
  • Recruit and enrol students onto relevant programmes and contribute towards enrolment targets.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment that supports a diverse range of learning needs.
  • Participate in staff development, appraisal processes, and mandatory training activities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to drive continuous improvement across the department.

What We're Looking For

  • Industry experience within Carpentry & Joinery.A passion for teaching and developing learners within Further Education.
  • Strong knowledge of current industry practices and standards.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience delivering training, mentoring apprentices, or teaching learners is desirable.
  • A recognised teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one) is desirable.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications in Carpentry & Joinery.
